Recipe: Pigs in Blankets

Description/Notes:

Baked bread parcels with sizzling sausages, great for picnics

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. ( 450g ) low-fat pork sausages
  • 8 slices of bread, crusts removed
  • half a small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 oz. ( 50g ) butter, softened
  • 1 tablespoon wholegrain mustard
  • Cooking Instructions:

    1. Pre-heat oven to 350F, Gas Mark 4, 180C
    2. Spread half the butter over one side of each slice of bread
    3. Mix the onion and the mustard with the remaining butter and spread on other side
    4. Prick sausages with a fork
    5. Wrap each sausage in a slice of bread with mustard inside
    6. Place on a baking sheet and cook in the pre-heated oven for 25-30 minutes
    7. When bread is golden and sausage cooked, leave to cool
