Bacon Puffs

Makes 8

Description/Notes:

Melt in the mouth bacon savories in gorgeous flaky pastry parcels

Ingredients:
  • 4 oz. (125g) streaky bacon, minced
  • half an ounce (12g) butter
  • half an ounce (12g) flour
  • 6 oz. (175g) flaky pastry
  • 4-6 tablespoons of milk
  • pepper
  • grated nutmeg

    Cooking Instructions:
    1. Pre-heat oven to 450F, Gas Mark 7
    2. Roll out the pastry and divide into 8 squares
    3. Melt the butter, add the flour and mix well
    4. Add milk gradually, stirring all the time, until the mixture boils and thickens
    5. Cook for 1 minute then add the bacon, pepper and nutmeg
    6. Put a spoonful of this mixture on the pastry squares, damp edges and fold over to form triangles
    7. Press the edges well together and knock up the edges with the back of a knife
    8. Put the parcels on a baking tray and bake in the pre-heated oven for about 15-20 minutes
    9. Leave to cool when they have become a golden brown in colour
